DWIGHT TYRONE GATSON, was born in Oakland, California on March 08, 1949. He was the only child born to his father David Gatson and mother Lovie Voncille Turner-Gatson. He grew up in a household with his mother and Aunt Johnny and cousin Jean, who he considered his "big sister."
Dwight grew up in Oakland graduating from Oakland High School where he met Mary C. Mitchell and had two children. He remained in the "neighborhood" for many years and knew everybody on and around his home on 14th Avenue. Following his graduation Dwight enlisted in the National Guard. While enlisted he was able to attend college where he focused on auto mechanics.
Following his enlistment in the National Guard he worked for Alameda County Medical Center where he remained until he took early retirement due to health concerns. While employed with the Medical Center, Dwight met and became lifelong friends with his best buddy Kenny Taylor.
Dwight loved to cook and was the "Barbecue King" He was quite the talker and the "life of the party."
Dwight was the proud father of two sons, Dwight, Jr. and Tyrone, and one loving daughter, Nicole L. Gatson, who was always there for her Dad.
He is survived by his three children, 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and a host of cousins,
his "big sister" Jean Patrick, little sister Ruth Ann Williams and brother Darnel Gatson. Internment 12/17/24 @ 10:30 am Sacramento Valley National Cemetery 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon CA 95620
