Lynne (Nickel) Shartle, 82, of Romeoville, Illinois (formerly of South Elgin and Glen Ellyn) died peacefully on February 5th, 2021 surrounded by her family after her courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She is proceeded in death by parents, Elmer and Evelyn (Klemm) Nickel, her brother Wayne (Sharon) Nickel and her late husband, John Shartle.
Lynne was many things to many people: she was a teacher, a grandmother, a wife, a mother, sister, and, a friend to all. Lynne was active in her communities and participated in many clubs and activities, including garden club, art lady, girl scouts, boy scouts, Shrine events, water volleyball, tennis… too many to list.
Her specialties included chocolate chip pancakes in the shape of the eater’s favorite animal, creating amazing art projects and costumes, dancing like no one was watching, and loving without fear. She found joy in the songs sung at her church, being involved in any activity or holiday and spending time with her grandchildren. Her abundant energy and spirit was apparent in everything she did and to everyone she met.
Lynne leaves behind her three children Tom (Debbie) Shartle, Robin (Bruce) Przybylski, and Beth (Dan) Stockhausen; her four amazing grandchildren: Connor (Megan) Shartle, Ryden Shartle, Paige Lynne Przybylski, and Harley Quinn Stockhausen; her siblings Kathy (Ken) Urbasek, and Thom (Jody) Nickel as well as her many nieces and nephews.
While her family is grieving, they are recognizing the freedom that Lynne has gained from no longer battling dementia. Such a vibrant personality deserves the greatest celebration of life and while the family has chosen to do an immediate service for a select amount, they are planning a party as joyous as Lynne was when it is safe enough to accommodate for the hugs, dancing, and singing that Lynne would require.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or Shriners Hospitals for Children (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org) in memory of Lynne Shartle.
We are also asking that you find time every day to enjoy the little things and find a creative outlet in memory of an amazing woman with an endless amount of creativity and love for the world and all its imperfections.
Funeral services will be held privately at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home and Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace. The funeral service will be live-streamed on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 11:00 am CST via Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home Facebook page. The video will appear prompty at 11am.
