Conrad 'Sonny' Frank Utecht was called home the morning of Tuesday, July 23rd, at the age of 76, surrounded by his family. Conrad was born in Chicago on December 17, 1947, to Conrad and Marcella Utecht.
As a child, he loved to tinker with radios and telephones. After serving his country in Vietnam, Conrad went on to put this love to use in his work for AT&T, where he would remain until he retired. In 1972, Conrad married the love of his life, Deborah. They shared 52 wonderful years of marriage and three daughters, Cassandra (Ed) Chavez, Marcella, and Delores. Throughout his time on Earth, Conrad also shared his affinity for trains, and was a proud member of the Bass & Gill Club of Illinois, where he enjoyed many early mornings fishing and soaking up the sun on Conrad's legacy continues in his wife and children, as well as his 8 grandchildren, his sister Louise (Eric) Lusty, and brother Richard (Nikki) Utecht.
He was welcomed to heaven with open arms by his parents Conrad and Marcella Utecht, and his brother, Robert.
A visitation for Conrad will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17w201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181. A private burial to be held the following morning. Donations can be made in Conrad’s name to Mission 22, a foundation that provides support and resources to Veterans and their families.
