dear grandpa, 
i miss you dearly and grandma and uncle and uncle timmy. it hurts knowing you guys aren't here anymore in the physical world and it sucks seeing other people with their families knowing i don't have you guys anymore. i wish i could be with you guys and i would do anything to see you all again.

Family parties growing up. Whenever I hear or think of Maxwell street, I know you are not far behind me. I love you and miss you and am blessed I saw you before you Entered Gods kingdom. I always remember the good an individual , and what good that individual did and contributed to ones life. 

That was the embodiment of Thomas R Okrie SR, my grandfather, one whom I'm proud to share a name with. If you were to ever mention "Papa Okrie's" name around anyone who knew him, they would share how caring of a heart he had almost immediately. God has called him back too soon, but in this short life I'm proud to have called him my grandfather for 30 years. I'm thankful for the life lessons he bestowed upon me while taking the many trips him and I took on the train from Chicago to Michigan to go visit my great Uncle. Those bits of knowledge didn't stop when we'd wake up early and go fish down on crooked lake. I owe everything I know about fishing to him, and I cherish those memories as I often think about those moments in life. They were blissful. We enjoyed them. And I'd never change a thing about them. Without Papa Okrie I would have never gotten a chance to see one of Chicago's staples , "Maxwell Street" , in its prime as it flourished with people looking to grab the best deal even if it meant not budging by ten cents. 

I really could go on forever. The world is missing a great man, but heavan now has a strong angel reunited with his loving wife after a long absence. 

Thank you for being my grandfather. Thank you for raising my father to be the man he is today. A man I look up to and who is one of my mentors. I won't fail you or your name in life. We all miss you dearly.
