Sharon Lillian Horney Kopacz, 79, of Richmond, KY, formerly of Rockford, IL went into the loving arms of Jesus on July 2, 2024. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Kopacz; her children, Jenny (Dave) Linkenheld, Jamie (Joy) Kopacz; her grandchildren, Kayelene (Daniel) Card, Alexander Linkenheld, Nathaniel, and Annika Kopacz. Great grandchildren Harrison and Lillian Card. Survived by her sister, Audrey (Ron) Movrich, and sister-in-law Clare (Mel) Horneij.
Preceded in death are her parents, John & Lillian Horney. Brothers, Don & Mel Horneij, brother-in-law Ron Movrich and her grandchild Jeremiah John Kopacz and great-grandchild Emma Kate Card.
Sharon was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, MorMor (in Swedish means Mother’s Mother), sister, aunt, and friend. She was also an accomplished RN (registered nurse). Sharon used her caring nature as a nurse to serve and care for others. That caring nature carried over into her personal life too. For many years she was an instructor of “Joyful Joints” a water movement program at the Rockford, IL YMCA. She and Joe enjoyed doing this together and all the friends made over the years through this program. She enjoyed crocheting, journaling, scrapbooking, making Swedish Meatballs and spending time with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the hospital, rehab, hospice staff and caregivers for their compassionate care and support. The family expresses appreciation to all family and friends for the messages, stories, and cards of support during this challenging time. Sharon will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation at Chapel Hill Gardens South will take place on Thursday July 11th from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
Chapel Services at Chapel Hill Gardens South will take place on Friday July 12th at 11:00 AM, followed by burial at Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery.
