Robert Edward Achten of Casa Grande, Arizona passed away on March 12, 2023 at the age of 84. Robert was born the youngest of five children to Charles and Mary Agnes Achten on July 18, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in St. Anne, Illinois and spent most of his time outdoors fishing, hunting, and helping his neighbors.
Robert spent the last half of his life as a general contractor, building and remodeling homes and businesses all over the Pinal County area. He spent time as the owner of a local mobile home park, worked as a foreman for Louis Johnson and John Wayne’s feed lot in Stanfield, Arizona, and before moving to Arizona in 1977, he worked for General Foods for over twenty years.
Robert was a member of the Army Corp of Engineers for six years and had a passion for service. He served proudly as one of the charter members of the Pinal County Posse and as a member of the Western Heritage Rangers. He loved serving his country and his community and participated in the Veterans and Christmas parades every year. He was honored as most patriotic, 1st place for presentation, and various other accolades.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Agnes Achten, his brothers, Charlie and Don Achten, and his sisters, Shirley Achten and Patricia Wingerter.
He was survived by his sons Todd, Robert Scott, and Nicklas Achten, his seven grandchildren, Ashleigh Rankin, Edwin, Robert, Nathaniel, Ronni, Justin, and Nicklas Achten and by his four great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation for Robert held Monday, April 3rd, 2023 from 10 am - 12 pm, followed by a service at 12 pm at the Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, Illinois 60453. Rev. Fred Pesek officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleum, 6001 West 111th Street, Alsip, Illinois 60803.
