Peter G. Lagen, 81, died peacefully on November 30. He was preceded in death by his beloved Mother and Father, Anna and George, and his Brother Chris. Fond Uncle of many cousins. Peter was born on August 29, 1933, and remained a lifelong Chicagoan. He attended Morgan Park Military Academy and after graduation enlisted in the Army. He served with distinction, receiving the “National Defense Service” Medal and “Good Conduct” Medal. After the Army, Peter had a long and successful career as a stockbroker.
Peter was committed to his Greek Orthodox Faith, proudly serving as Parish Council President and a member of the Parish Council of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Palos Hills for many years. He was also active in fundraising and support for the Koraes Elementary School, firmly believing that the most important thing a person can do is provide children with the best education possible. For his devotion, service, and commitment to the Greek Orthodox Faith, he was appointed an Archon by Archbishop Bartholomew in 1997. This is the highest honor the Church can bestow on a member of the laity. Peter will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty, and humor.
