I am really sorry to hear this. I was close with Micheal at the University of Miami and had many great memories with him.

Michael and I played on Sandburg’s golf Team from 01-05. We played together a lot together in the same group. Larry mike myself and Mitch were always top 4 so we grow together as a team. Mike and I are lefties and that’s not to common to have. We lost contact after high school and sense I don’t have any social media I lost touch with everyone from the team. I was driving home from work yesterday and I got the text asking if I remember mike. I said ya I do man we played over 150 rounds of golf with each other when we where younger. Then I got the news. Ruby I hope your in a great place now. Sorry we lost touch. Life happens. One of the nicest kids I have ever met. May god have mercy on your family. Hit it straight mike and one day somewhere the four of us with are Sandburg bags will go for a round like old times.

I first met Dr. Ruby 45 years ago and became his patient and his friend. 
I met Michael when he was a very young toddler as Doctor Ruby came in to my brother's office and brought little Michael with him. He was one of the most beautiful children I had ever seen.  All the women in tbe office went crazy over this gorgeous baby. 
He grew up to be the most wonderful, happy,  handsome young man and the apple of his father's eye.
My deepest sympathy to you Jack and your entire family  on this devastating,  tragic loss.
Michael is now in the most beautiful place and this beautiful child of God is resting peacefully in  HIS Arms. 


My deepest condolences to the Ruby family. I remember Michael from the times he would visit the dental office. Such a handsome, kind soul. May your memories outweigh your sadness.

I’m grateful that you were one of my best friends. When we met on the golf course in high school, I admired your ability to hit a 210 yard draw over water with a 4-iron and land it soft- but most importantly your focus and determination to work hard day in and day out to improve. Over time I realized your on-course ability was exceeded by your character off the course. I admired that you consistently put others before yourself, were a great listener, and worked hard to ensure everyone around you was enjoying themselves. Your excitement, humor, and enthusiasm were contagious. I appreciate that you were always there for me, despite the time or distance- I’ll really miss you buddy.

I didn't know Michael at all, but his Father Dr. Jack Ruby has been one of my best friends for over 50 years.  We were College teammates at Benedictine University. I know that Jack would talk about his son and his other kids a lot, because he really had a special relationship with all of them, and in particular Michael. My prayers and thoughts go out to the Ruby family, and you will all see Michael in Heaven someday.  God Bless everyone of you. and God Bless Michael Ruby.

I was so sorry and sad to hear about Mike's passing.   I knew Mike from travel baseball when we were young on the Orland Park Sparks.  He was always a quiet and kind person even back then.  I'll always remember Mike as that crafty lefty with the sweet pick off move.  I still remember playing first base and having the first base coach tell his kid, "Ok, he's got a good move stay alert, we can't have you getting picked off" and then Mike when into his motion and threw over to pick the kid off...that coach was so angry.  
My heart and thoughts go out to your entire family during this difficult time.

So very sorry for the loss to your family. He most definitely will be missed. RIP.

You are such a special person. I don’t think you ever realized how amazing you are. You are talented in so many ways, you are generous and thoughtful, you made me laugh until I cried, and most of all you are intelligent and SO kind. You gave me unconditional love from the moment I met you, taught me so many importance’s in life, and motivated me to an infinity amount of limits. You thought of me before you because you are the most selfless guy I have ever met. I can’t tell you how much you mean to me and how much I love you. You once told me you know there is a reason God put us in each others lives. I thank you so much for being in my life and I promise to one day hold your hand in Heaven. You have already given me signs you are with me since the day you passed, and I thank you for that. I will forever keep the memories we made and the impact you have had not only on mine, but everyone’s lives. I will be thinking of you today, tomorrow, and everyday for the rest of my life. You did not deserve any of this, you were SUCH a good guy Michael. I love you so so so much and cannot imagine my life now without you. I love you Michael.

For all the Rubys - my sincere condolences.  I remember meeting your son at spring training....the Rubys always have the best smiles!  I can not imagine your hurt, and please know I am praying for you and your entire family for God's strength in your life.  My rosary tonight will be dedicated to Michael and his forever peace in our Lord's loving arms.

Jack, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your son. Although I never met him, knowing you and your family, I am sure that he was a fine young man and he will be missed.

You were a great friend to me during elementary, junior-high and high school.   Even though I was a Cubs fan, you would still include me in going to White Sox games and we were the definition of how Chicago baseball fans should coalesce. 

I truly credit you with motivating me to work hard and make the sophomore baseball team at Sandburg. I'll never forget catching some of those games for you and will always look fondly upon those years.

I know we lost touch the last several years but I  will never forgot working on school projects with you, hitting in your backyard batting cage, playing cello in Orchestra , lunch all through high school, and all those years in German class together.  

You will truly be missed and your family is in my thoughts and prayers. God bless.

From when we first met at Sandburg on the Freshman baseball team, you were truly one of my best friends.  You were the one and only guy that we played with at Sandburg that was willing to work on baseball with me all year long year after year all through high school and we built a great bond by spending all that time together.  I will cherish all the memories we had from going to the ball games, to working out in the gym and as well as all the great times we had going out as we got older.  I am deeply sadden by this news as I have lost a great friend.  I wish your family my deepest condolences.

Mike was the definition of a true gentleman. I was so fortunate to have been a teammate of Mike's on the Carl Sandburg High School Golf Team from 2001-2005. We were the only two lefties on the team and Mike would always offer to help with me with my swing, give me tips,  just anything to get an edge when we played in matches or tournaments together. After we graduated, we'd run into each other at local bars and he right away would recognize me and invite me to hang out and share some drinks, laughs, and memories. Mike ALWAYS put everyone before himself and NEVER had a bad thing to say about anybody. He will be sorely missed. To the Ruby family, my thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this extremely difficult time.

I’ll never forget my very first day at Midlothian as a young totally lost Golf Professional when your dad walked in pulled me aside and asked that I take care of you that summer because he wasn’t a golfer, ha. I would’ve never guessed that would lead to becoming very close with you and Doc  that summer. I loved teaching and playing golf with you for the next few years. You were so driven to succeed at golf and boy no way would you ever quit. So inspiring and A true winner you were. All the Sox games and bards room visits with you and the family will never be forgotten. I love you Michael Ruby. I’m sure you’re in heaven and already trying to get on Augusta National. Rest In Peace my friend and God Bless you.

It is not the same in the office without your head peaking over the cubicles. Your laughter was contagious. Your athletic skills were amazing--the only lefty golfer I knew.  I keep reading over the Skype message we had just this pastThursday. You were always willing to help me out. You enjoyed your disco ball I gave you for Christmas and those lights will never be illuminated again on the ceiling here at work. I enjoyed the talks we shared-Bears vs Cowboys, White Sox vs Cubs. The candy we shared. I never got to meet your girlfriend, but I know she was the one you were going to marry. I am so sorry you were taken so short of a great life you were destined to have with her.  You will be missed and never forgotten!!
