    I very much feel your pain and shock at Mike's sudden passing.  It's been many years since I've had the chance to talk to Mike.  But, Mike was a central figure in my most cherished memories of high school.  Mike was one of the most popular and well-liked members of the class of 1981.  Mike never looked down on anyone and never balked at the opportunity to make others laugh and feel good about themselves.  He will always be on the short list of the finest human beings I have ever met.  May God speed all of us over our grief and always keep a special place in Heaven for Mike O'Meara.

Mike and I were friends in high school. We didn't really keep in touch afterward, but on the off chance we ran into each other, we easily fell back into old jokes and comfortable conversation. I always appreciated Mike's sense of humor and his strong personality. We had some great laughs together. He would joke that the two of us would make a good morning radio tag team (Chris and Mike In the Morning). Time boils down our high school memories until just the highlights remain. For me, my time with Mike is one of those memorable highlights. Both my wife, Marcy, and I are extremely saddened by Mike's passing. The entire O'Meara family will be in our prayers.

    Just a few words about what I knew about Mike (Lord help me not make any mistakes here lol). I only knew him from work but I did know these things. Firs was that he loved you, and it wasn't because he walked around saying it all the time it was because of the little post-it's you used to send in his lunch. He showed them to everybody and he would get that little grin on his face =). I swear sometimes he would blush like a little kid!
       Mike was also the kind of guy who stuck up for others. Even if they didn't know they needed defending.
        The biggest thing tho was that Mike loved to work and he was good at it, very good and he would always help people. He helped you before you knew you needed help at times. He was always telling people what he knew and how to make the job easier and safer for everybody. Of all the Edison people who came Mary there wasn't a one who many time's didn't ask Mike for help in some way about something. We all lost a lot when we lost Mike.
   I know I'll (as many others will) will always remember his little smirk and the laughter in his eyes when we would throw a zinger at each other, 'cause them ya knew that you were just having fun!
   He was a stand up guy who had integrity, we will miss him

Auntie Mary we have no words to explain our dearest simpathy to you.We wish we can take the pain away from you're wonderful giving heart that you so have.But sad to say we can't you were so lucky to have some one like uncle Mike to Love You as much as he did.We Love You Guys soooo much and we will always forever be here for you! May the Lord shine upon him in the heavens and you here on earth and cover you with his special blessings you are such a special person to us Kassandra , Jacob,Jasmine and Mckenzie still need their Auntie Mary  to be as happy as you have always been for us.You are the best Auntie a kid could ever ask for.U will always be an Angel to us. We Love you  for Always.?

My dear brother...what can I say? There are no words to describe the pain we all feel. I can't believe my little brother is gone. I remember your love for baseball since you were a little boy. Playing catch with you, going to all your little league games. I watched you practice your swing in front on the mirror, hoping one day that you would play for the Cubbies. You wore that Cubs hat every day for years! I could never ask for a better brother than you. Steve and Heather love you so much, you were their second dad! I only wish that Jordan and Jackson could have grown up with you. My life and the lives of everyone who loves you is FOREVER changed. Nothing will ever be the same. Who is going to fight me for the salt shaker at every family meal?
Who is going to teach my grandsons how to spin a basketball on the tip of their finger? Who is going to hustle everyone at Bags? I don't understand God's reasons for taking you from all of us so suddenly and so soon, but I am trying to understand. Only the BEST die young! I want you to know that we will take care of Mary. She is my sister in every sense of the word. I promise I will always be there for her and never let you down. I love her and you so much words can not express. Bob is devastated to lose his little brother as well. It is still surreal to me. Please watch over us all, Mike. Help us to understand. I miss you so much already. Until I see you again little brother...I will ALWAYS love you and keep you close in my broken heart.

Although I had not seen Mike for a number of years, he will always be a part of the HLR high school class of 1981. My sympathies to Mary and the O'meara family.

Mike you made my life miserable when I first met you, I am glad it was just a matter of personality, I am privileged to have known you ... your humor took us to the friendship that we knew .... I don't always understand how God works, especially in times like this.
I do know everytime I saw you and Sliv I always mentioned what a perfect couple the two of you made. My mother and Sliv have the same birthday and today is the 6th anniversary of her passing. I have a feeling she and my dad are beside him because he would never have chosen to leave you and although he is at peace his heart aches for you too. At this time life is not kind, but with Mike and God at your side they can help you get by.

My heart is broken, my heart aches for Mary. Don't understand why you were taken so soon. You and Mary  were the most fun, generous people to be around - the life of the party.
