Mary was a lifelong resident of Chicago. She was born to Julius and Artisha Jenkins on October 29, 1923. After completing high school, Mary went on to attend college for two years hoping to pursue a career as a medical doctor. She studied chemistry and biology. Unfortunately, she was unable to complete college due to the hardship of a fulltime job. Mary always had an eye for capitalizing on opportunities which allowed her to purchase her first home, at the age of 18, for herself, mom, and younger sister.

(Warren) Elmore, Bonita (Kenneth) Young, Sylvia (Dennis) Wilson, the late Lauta (Alvin) Joyner, and the late Carmelita Price; proud grandmother of Kasmirah (Derick) Scarbrough, Lyden Joyner, Royal (Kellie) Elmore, Robert Elmore, Richard Elmore, Ryan Elmore, Kiara (Cameron) Hileman, Brittney (Jahnathan) Davis, Briana Young, Chelsea Wilson, Chanel Wilson, and the late Cherisse Wilson; loving great grandmother of Nalia and Koah; dear sister of Dorothy (Cleve) Little; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews; daughter of the late Julius C. and Artisha Jenkins.
Funeral Service Saturday, February 12, 11:00 am at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, 11333 S. Central Avenue, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. Private interment at Burr Oak Cemetery.
