Karen Kus Provan, 71, passed away from Pancreatic Cancer on July 2nd 2023. Born September 9th, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, she is survived by her husband of 35 years Jim, her daughter Samantha, her son Jimmy (Alex), and her loving grandchildren Knox and Zoey. Karen was the oldest child and only daughter of the late Edward and Rosemary Kus (nee Gawel), as well as a driving force amongst her brothers Edward (Patricia), Robert (Rose), Richard, Karl (Karen), and Joseph (Anne).
Though she was most well known for her work as a middle school French teacher throughout her life, attempting to put all of Karen’s achievements and titles into a single paragraph would cause any language teacher to break out the red ink and start correcting sentence structure. She loved mystery novels, all things related to France, Disney, and had a passion for music. She would sing at every opportunity (whether or not singing was warranted) and was truly a joy to be around, even if you were the target of one of her teacher scowls. She will be dearly missed by everyone in whose life she was a part.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 8th 2023 at St. Cletus Church at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held Friday, July 7th 2023 at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, Illinois, 60453 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Interment will be private.
