It is with profound sadness that we announce our mom, Josephine A. Walano, has sadly passed from this life on April 5, 2021 and is being reunited with her own mom and dad as well as her brother and many uncles who predeceased her.
For anyone who knew her, she was straight forward, direct but kind. A loving wife to our dad John, they would have celebrated their 59th. Wedding Anniversary later this month. A wonderful mom to David, John and Michelle. She left us suddenly and there are no words to speak to the devastation we are feeling right now.
Mom, (or Ma) as we called her, leaves behind her daughters in-law, Debbie (David) and Cindy (John) as well as her “favorite” son in-law, Larry “Bo” (Michelle).
Together, Mom and Dad are lifetime residents of Alsip, to this day sharing the home we grew up in. When she passed, she was surrounded by love and did not leave alone. As we grieve her loss, her love is felt by all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
From David, she was loved by David “DJ” Walano and Elise Walano, Joey and Rachel Greenebaum. From John, she was adored by Brittany, Nick, Victor and Dominic and from Michelle, she is missed by Joe Klopp.
All of her great grandchildren so loved their grandma…Savannah, Amelia, Sabrina, Zachary, Zaben and Cameron.
Many knew our mom from First Midwest Bank (formerly Alsip Bank) where she worked for over 25 years as a Teller then teller manager. She retired 25 years ago.
A visitation will take place at Blake Lamb Funeral Home (Oak Lawn) on Sunday, April 11 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. We will have a funeral mass for her at St. Terrence Catholic Church on Monday, April 12th at 10AM located at 4300 W 119th Pl, Alsip, IL 60803. Interment Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
