John Cruz Police Officer of the Chicago Police Department, age 47, of Chicago, Illinois passed away on Saturday, April 15th, 2023. Beloved son of the late Juan G. Cruz and Carmen V. Cruz; Loving brother of Carmen Cruz, Lucy Cruz, Julia Cruz, Sandra (Lenin) Cruz, Patricia Cruz; Cherished uncle of Jaqueline Diaz, Arturo Diaz, Vanessa Valdez, Rubi Valdez, Juan Antonio Valdez, Leyla Valdez, Alexus Bautista, Mercedes Bautista, Destiny Bautista, Victoria Bautista, Jadien Jones, Cataleya Jones; Great uncle of Angel Solorzano and Isabella Diaz; Adored grandson of Refugia Gonzalez, Ruben Gonzalez Cruz, Carmen Balderas and Jose Vazquez.

A visitation will be held on Thursday April 20th, 2023 from 2:00pm until 9:00pm at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home 4727 W. 103rd Street, followed by a chapel prayer service on Friday April 21st, 2023 with family and friends gathering at 8:00am until time of procession for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. Rita of Cascia Parish at 10:00am 6243 S. Fairfield, Chicago, IL 60629. Interment private at this time.
