Jim was born on November 18, 1945 to the late Dr. Nicholas Demeter and Elpenike Trahadias in Milwaukee, WI.
He went on to graduate from Washington High School before pursuing a degree at University of Wisconsin and completing University of Athens Medical School with a Doctorate degree. Throughout his life, he dedicated time to being a Journalist, Cantor at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, Treasurer for the Kalavryta Society, and ended his days as the #1 Salesman at Perillo BMW. Jim enjoyed photography in his past-time. Married to the love of his life, Andrea Kagianas, on December 2, 1990, they spent 32 years in wedded bliss while raising two beloved sons, Nicholas Demeter and Alexander Apostolos.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Dr. Nicholas and Dena Demeter; Brother-in-law, Dr. Richard Thurrell; and many other dear relatives and friends.
James leaves behind his Loving Wife, Andrea (nee Kagianas); Children, Nicholas Demeter & Alexander Apostolos; Siblings, Dr. Lela Demeter, Mary (the late Dr. Richard) Thurrell, & Connie (Dr. George) Caranasos; Brother-in-law, Theodore (Maria) Kagianas; and many other cherished relatives and friends.
A visitation for James will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W.103rd Street, Oak Lawn, IL 60453.
A wake Friday, January 13, 2023, at 9:30am at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 15625 S. Bell Road, Homer Glen, IL 60491 with a funeral service at 10:00am. He will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery and Mausoleum, 2905 North Thatcher Road, River Grove, IL 60171.
