Diane L. Stanek

Diane Loretta Stanek, age 83, of Evergreen Park, IL passed away on February 6, 2023. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Walter Stanek, her daughter Lorene Samoska (Mike Seiffert), and stepchildren Mike (Liz) Stanek, Donna (Chuck, deceased) Neumann, Walter (Margaret) Stanek, and Maria (Ron) Pedersen. She is also survived by her brother Tony (Ann Marie) Jurkus, nieces Mikki (Mike) Fleniken, Missy (David) Way, and Megan (Heath) Schneider, and nephew Michael (Jennifer) Jurkus.

Diane was the grandmother of Tom Stanek, Katie and David Stanek, and Ron, Matt, and Alison Pedersen. She was also the great-aunt of Elizabeth Ann and Andrew Fleniken, James, Anna, and Olivia Way, William, Benjamin, and Noah Schneider, and LeeAnn and Henry Jurkus.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Ann Jurkus, her son Anthony Stanek, and her stepson Tom Stanek.

Diane was a graduate of Maria High School and worked as a secretary at A&P for several years. A congregant at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church since 1978, she enjoyed meeting up with friends for coffee at Dunkin Donuts and McDonalds, bowling with her church league at Bleekers, and playing Friday night bingo with her mom at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. At home, Wheel of Fortune was a dinner-time staple, and Diane always had a beloved dog, all Scottish terriers, and all female (Duchess I and II, Daisy I and II) until Davey came along. He may have been her favorite.

The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the numerous caregivers that helped Diane during her battle with multiple myeloma, especially her at-home caregivers Sharon and Janina.

A memorial mass will take place on Saturday, February 25, 2023, 11:30 a.m. at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 9525 Lawndale Avenue, Evergreen Park, Illinois. Interment to follow at St. Casimir Cemetery.
