Catherine Vlachos was born 26 December 1921, in Colfax, Washington, to Christos and Helen (Deligiannis) Dochios. The oldest of four girls, Catherine grew up in Rathdrum, a small town in North Idaho. She attended school there and graduated Valedictorian in her class. Catherine attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, and in 1945 she graduated from the Law School. She married Alex N. Vlachos in June of 1945 and lived for a time in Spokane, Washington before moving to Chicago. Alex and Catherine had two sons Nick, born in 1950 and Chris born in 1953. In 1965 Catherine started work for the Juvenile Court of Cook County as an attorney and guardian ad litum. She retired in 1988. Catherine loved traveling the world in her 80s with her sisters who survive her: Dr. Mary Dochios Kamberos of Chicago and Marina Plastino of Rathdrum, Idaho. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and God mother. Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Alex, her parents, sister Vaselia Lemonidis, and grandson Andrew Vlachos. She is survived by her sons Dr. Nick A. Vlachos of LaGrange, GA, and Dr. Chris A. Vlachos (Patty) of Chicago; grandchildren Robin (Joel) Christiansen and Rachel McClincey both of The Colony, TX; Nathanael (Rachel) Vlachos of Houston, TX; Alex (Barbara) Vlachos of Mapleton, IL; and great grandchildren, Christopher, Alaina, Savannah, Annika, Audra, Niko, and George and God daughter Sophia Banakis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Catherine was a long-time member of St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Oak Lawn, IL.
