They proceeded to have 7 children, living in the cities of Akron, Ohio; Grosse Ile, Michigan; Dearborn Heights, Michigan; and settling in Oak Lawn, Illinois, where their children could have a Christian education all the way through high school. After John passed away in 1995, Carol lived with daughter Renee for several years in Kalamazoo, MI then moved into assisted living for the remainder of her years. Carol will be remembered for her love for children (especially babies!), her love for her extended family in the Netherlands, singing in the church choir, knitting, and her mysterious green thumb when it came to gardening!
