

Our community and family sadly lost a pillar on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 10:16 A.M., when Mrs. Angela Marie Ross Williams, favorably known as Miss Angie, transitioned into eternal joy and rest. Angela was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Westbrook and Jessie Walker on October 16, 1954. Her contributions to the lives of many include nursing, computer programming, substance abuse counseling, a 20-year stint as a Human Resources professional, the development of AMR Consulting Associates, a founding member of the non-profit organization for girls, Jacqueline of all trades, and so many other leadership endeavors in her professional life, community work, and beloved church home, Salem Baptist Church of Chicago. Angela was the eldest of six siblings, a college graduate, and she completed ministry training at the Bill Winston School of Ministry.
Angela is survived by the loving community of South Chicago and her husband of 25 years, Mr. Joel Williams, her beloved children: Sean T. (Shojonae) Gray and Stefanie M. (Peter) Ross Mars; loving daughter by marriage Lawonda Williams Taylor; cherished grandchildren: Carolyn Jones, Victor A. Mc Ghee, Marcus A. Mc Ghee, Aaron Freeman Gray, Infinity S. Gray, Diamond M. Gray, Dillon J. Toombs-Mars, Chase J. Toombs, Xavier M. Toombs and Ava G. Mars; a host of great-grandchildren; siblings: Westbrook (Greta) Walker, Jr., Dr. Marcellus (Christina) Walker, Earnestine Denise Walker, Andrea Soto, Demetrius Walker, Tameka Walker, Butler (Annette) Stapleton, Lucille Summers, and Sharon Tyson Jackson; dearly loved niece Vida Summers. Preceded in death by her parents: Westbrook Walker, Sr. and Jessie May Langston; Husbands: Jefferson Ross and Porter Gray; brother in love: Davis S. Ross; Sister in love; Betty Robinson; son by marriage: Victor Mc Ghee and great-grandson Deon Mc Ghee.

A Visitation will be held at Salem Baptist Church, 752 E. 114th Street, Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, EIwood, Illinois on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 11:00 am.
