He was born to the late Leo and Grace Morse, Jan. 12, 1927, in Seattle, WA. He served as a
Marine in World War II from 1946-1947. George graduated from Lewis and Clark College in
1952 with a BS in Psychology. He married Amoy Charlene Potter in 1948, a marriage lasting 65
years. They moved to Portland, OR. in 1948, Seattle, WA. in 1955, Oak Harbor, WA. in 1965,
Orlando, Fl. 1969, Keflavik, Iceland 1974, Napa, Ca. 1976, and back to Oak Harbor WA. in 1980.
George was a NIS Agent from 1955 - 1980. He then moved back home to his island ranch and
served as a captain in the Silver Lake Fire Station. He was always heavily involved with Judo.
He was the Judo instructor for the NAS Judo Club earning a Rokudan 6th degree Black Belt in
Judo. He was active in the Boy Scouts and served as Committee Chairman for the local Scouts.
George is survived by his wife Amoy, five children: Gaye Fry N.C., Sher Harless WA., Suni
MacLean WA., Jeff Morse WA., and Brad Morse AZ. He also is survived by 12 grandchildren and
14 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to
the George L Morse Memorial Fund at Washington Federal in Oak Harbor WA. This fund will be
used to provide college scholarships to aspiring judo students.
