He was 66. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of Flornel Shipley, a homemaker, and Robert Shipley, a business owner. Mr. Shipley attended Perry Hall High School and graduated from Virginia Tech. He worked as a Construction Project Manager for an extensive range of projects for over 25 years. He owned and managed properties in Charles Village for over 30 years where he designed and completed many remodeling and repair projects on his buildings. Roger had an intense, tenacious work ethic when it came to building projects.
Mr. Shipley enjoyed fishing with his sons, Robert, and James. He loved boating in the Chesapeake Bay; and spent many years during his youth sailing and windsurfing with his family both recreationally and competitively. He was a passionate Ravens fan for many years and an avid cyclist in recent years. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Shipley and is survived by his mother Flornel Shipley, Parkville, Maryland; his brother Michael Shipley (Rosemeiry) of Panama City Beach, Florida, and sister Susan Winner (Karl) of Stevenson, Washington; two sons, Robert Shipley (Kalina) of Racine, Wisconsin, and James Shipley (Victoria) of Niceville, Florida, and three grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving fiancée Elizabeth Van Dyke and his former wife Janice Shipley.
Services will be held at Kenwood Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 4:30pm.
