Jennifer and I met Bob and Mary at his High School friend's home Joel and Gail Bailey years ago.  Joel and Bob shared many years of friendship together that we were fortunate to observe.  Later, years after Bob's beloved Mary passed, he asked Joel and his girls if he could see Mary Helen, Jennifer's mom and a long time friend.  Joel approved thus a rekindled friendship developed.  We loved Bob's gentle and caring manner toward our MaryHelen who was enduring her own loss of  husband Ron Stokely.
We loved Bob Willey, how their companionship worked together, his intelligence, and his compassion for others.  It was so dear for me to see how Jennifer and Bob connected.  We share in the famiily"s loss of a good man.

Bob & I have been friends since the mid-1950s before he went into the service. With mutual friends we played miniature golf & went to dances. During this time, Bob was also friends with my brother Joel & a group of guys from the class of ’54. 
Through the years, Bob & Joel remained close; playing golf, meeting classmates for lunch at Squire’s, etc. When Bob’s wife Mary died in 2008, Joel was there for Bob in his grief,  just as he had been there for me when I lost my husband in 2005. Joel re-connected Bob & me, and the three of us enjoyed spending time together playing the slots & eating at Cracker Barrel. Bob would light up when he & Joel shared stories from their past. When we lost Joel in 2013, Bob & I grew closer as we shared this grief & found comfort in the history and friendship we shared. 
Bob was an athlete & a fan. In HS he played varsity baseball & was president of the Sports Club. He was an avid golfer & bowler, playing both well into his early 80s. In his senior yearbook, Bob was recognized as “An ardent baseball fan.” His love for sports was so contagious, he had me cheering on the Orioles and Ravens (much to the amusement of my family!) hosting game day parties, and watching golf.  
As a member of The Sunshine Men’s Club, Bob played in monthly poker games & enjoyed inviting friends & family to the club’s annual crab feast. When the club wasn’t hosting a poker game, Bob & “the guys” would gather at each other’s home. When Bob moved into his condo, he was proud to host a poker party where EZ, Carl, and Billy were sure to attend. Thankfully, Bob also enjoyed Phase 10! This is the game we played together & with family & friends. We could always count on Bob to keep score (and  to keep us straight!)
Bob had also been described as "shy, yet boasting a wide circle of friends." He remained shy AND continued to grow a circle of friends that included my family. I'm grateful to have been in Bob's circle.  He was a good man. I will miss my best friend.

So sorry for your loss. Deepest sympathy to the whole family 

Hope all Bob's loved ones will be comforted knowing what a nice man he was. He gave it his best fight through some past and present serious health issues. Dave and I enjoyed being in his company and will miss him. I know he is up in heaven now beating someone at Phase 10. Much love , Bunny and Dave


I am just old enough to remember my cousin Bobby as a teenager. Twelve years my senior, our worlds never quite touched.  He was always leaving one season of life as I was beginning it.  I knew him most by the glow that he left in the hearts who loved him.  His mom and dad, my own Aunt Clare and Uncle Bob.  His and my grandparents. Bobby was special; he never disappointed.  The pride and love that they showered on him, his mother's only child,  was repaid tenfold by the  husband, father, grandfather and friend that he became.  May it live on in the life of all  who knew him.

I have known Bob since Lauren was a baby. He was an Usher in  my wedding  to  Bill Lock in 1968.  Mary & I were good friends.
Our friendship was renewed when Bob & Mary Helen became friends. My now deceased husband Phil Bethke & I shared so many meals with Mary Helen & Bob at The Lounge, went to casinos together, played Phase 10 together, road trips together.
Mary Helen always invited us to spend time with her & Bob while all of us were in FL.
My greatest connection with Bob was sports. We would discuss the pro & cons of Orioles & Ravens. I always enjoyed these conversations. He'd bring up the fact that he & his buddies played basketball for my dad whom sponsored a team.

He will be missed by all of his loving family & friends.  May all of you cherish the memories you have of your dear friend, your Dad, your Grandfather, even great Grandfather.
