No trip down to accounting would have been complete without stopping by to see John.  It was always a pleasure to talk to him.  Always a smile.

John was such a kind and caring family man.  One of our fondest memories was the last game night we had before the pandemic.  John said how great it was that all of us put our phones down and were laughing and having fun.  He really enjoyed the evening.  Kim and John are two of our dearest friends. John was like an older brother to me. He was my role model on how to deal with life. He always had a smile and a positive attitude and outlook I remember talking with John before going on his first date with Kim and telling me how nervous he was. After his date with Kim, he said I think she’s the one for me! And he was right, Kim and John were the perfect couple! We had a lot of fun together and I will always cherish those times and memories. He was a great friend and an even greater father and husband! He always made me smile and laugh and that’s the best gift you can give to anybody. I miss him! But going away on the first day of spring is appropriate because he cherished life. Even though you’re gone you’re still close. Love you man!

Words cannot express how very sorry we are over John’s passing.  He was always kind, gentle, caring and funny and held his family and friends close to his heart.  John will be missed so very deeply but will live on in our memories and heart forever.  Our deepest condolences to his family and friends at this sad time.  

John has been a neighbor for my seven years living in Perry Hall. Within 2 minutes I sensed that he was an exceptional person upon meeting him. I found him to be kind, gentle and intelligent. Along with Mario (or Marty if you will) we would walk around our oval and have some deep conversations. He recently got back into drums and we discussed his passion for music. Everyone that knew him now has a hole in their heart.

Johnnie took such care of Greg, especially accompanying him on their many neighborhood walks. I told Greg that when he gets to heaven he will have his 2 strong legs back, ,Johnnie will be waiting there (with his golden wings) and they will stroll heaven's neighborhood forever!

So very sorry to hear the sad news of John's passing. He was our auditor for the last several years. I looked forward to seeing him each year. He was always so pleasant and positive. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.


I am so sorry to hear about John's sudden passing. I too worked with him at Chesapeake Employers Insurance. I too went on a ride along with John several years ago for a story I did on the work of our Premium Audit Dept. John was an excellent auditor and instinctively knew what to look for when he visited policyholders in the field. 

Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Hold tight to each other; the Good Lord eventually calls each one of us home, but we never really know when that will be. May God bless you and give you peace.

 My heart is broken and I pray for strength and comfort for Kim, Joey and Josie and everyone else that had the pleasure of knowing and Loving John.
John was such a good guy and took excellent care of my sister Kimberly.
I never heard John  raise his voice unless his sports team was doing something good ( or sometimes bad )  He was soft spoken and laughed loud and often. He was a good story teller and had a great memory.  He loved Music and I liked talking with him about the classic rock artists of our youth and We both shared a huge love for the Man in Black.  Rest In Peace Johnny ❤️ I’ll miss you Brother!

Mr. John was amazing. I loved seeing him at parties or gatherings or even just when I baby sat. He was so funny and so amazing with Aj and MJ. Willie and Brit and the entire Melfa family you are in my prayers 

I wish you peace and comfort as you grieve  the loss of your loved one. 

John was one of the nicest human beings you ever wanted to meet. He was a very caring and compassionate person who was always kind to everyone he met.  He never had an unkind thing to say about anyone and always saw the best in people.   He will be truly missed and our thoughts and prayers are with John and his family during this very difficult time.  A really good man is now with the Lord in Heaven.  Rest in peace my friend.

So sorry for your loss Melfa family. When I first started with Chesapeake Employers Insurance, I first met John during a ride along to learn about his role with Chesapeake. He treated us to a wonderful day and lunch. He will surely be missed.
