So many fond memories of living on Elsrode Ave. & having pool parties, cookouts, etc. with you, John, & sweet Pat & your four children, Patsy, John, Kathy, & Maggie. "Sam" & I were so fond of you & your family.My dear Sam [Robert, actually] died in Nov. of 2009.
One memory I shall cherish is this. A year or so before his death, my dearest was admitted yet again to St. Joseph's Hospital & was terribly sad at having to go back in. After he was admitted , about an hour later, we watched in astonishment as they wheeled you into the room as his roommate. I was thrilled to see you both light up & start joking around & teasing each other. In the next few days, you both gave the nurses a teasing good workover & it made the difference for both of you in that hospitalization.
You & Pat were so much fun & such great people. 
Now you will be together again & I am happy for you, but sorry for all of your family & friends.

With deepest sympathy to the family.  I enjoyed John's company with many hours of discussion about flying and especially about our first solos.  He will be truly missed by his friends.  He was certainly one of a kind and was blessed to have a such a loving family.

You were honestly the most incredible man I have ever met. You were soft spoken and oh so kind. I strive to be more like you. You always had a smile on your face and all you ever asked for was "a kind word" (and maybe some pinot :) )... I can't imagine what family events will be like without you. I can't imagine what my wedding day will be like without you. But I am so grateful you had the opportunity to develop a relationship with Shane and find out I am engaged! Dear Dad,
I hope you are truly happy and alive again. Although I came into the family after the death of your beloved wife, I am very proud to have gotten to know the man you are and learn of the deep love that you and your wife shared. Our quiet talks that we had together, sharing our the similar feelings (you losing your wife, I losing my teenage daughter). Grief is a very important emotion in your healing process. It never goes away, but does let you live your life with meaning again. I know now that you are free of your grief.....So be truly happy.
