I will miss John. He was a big-hearted man and passionate about music. He was always so supportive of me in my musical endeavors and always full of kind words and encouragement. I know that the passing of his wife Jonine was very hard for him. I am certain that their spirits are flying free together now. He lives on in our hearts and memories.

We are VERY saddened to hear of  John's passing and very sorry we missed the viewing and service - just seeing this obituary today. 
John and Jonine have been good friends of ours for many years.  Gail  met Jonine in 1982 at work and remained friends with John after Jonine's passing.   We had many "insightful" conversations and  will truly miss our chats .  No doubt that John died of a broken heart  and is exactly where he wants to be - with his baby (as he used to tell me).   Condolences to the family.  

My cousin and friend has left his worldly bonds and is now in a better place, rejoicing with our departed loved ones.  I will miss him.  I’ll miss our stimulating conversations and his insightful commentary.  I’ll miss playing guitars with him.  I will always have fond memories from our childhood – wrestling in the grass on Munya’s back yard, 20 kids opening presents on Christmas evening in that small recroom.  I remember how beautiful his wedding was and how radiant his beloved wife was; I still have the little bottle of Champaign with “John and Jonine” scripted upon it from their wedding. It is with saddened hearts, our Very Dear Friend, John passed away.  I know John is in Heaven with his wife who he loved dearly.  We will miss John, his great voice, and his guitar playing.   We met John at the Ashland Cafe, we looked forward to seeing John every Tuesday night to sing karaoke.  Our prayers go out for his family.   John was a very dear friend of ours and we will never forget him.   We are so sorry we did not make it to the viewing but we found out too late.  We know John is making beautiful music in Heaven. I am sending love and prayers to the entire Callahan family from myself and my children. Please know you and your brother  are in our thoughts . I have wonderful memories of the family gatherings on holidays from our childhood.  Cousin John is now with the angels  and God.

John was my friend since 1973. So many memories of the good times we had. John you were quite the character!  John you had the great gift of "gab" and with that came your amazing ability to have a diverse group of friends. Know that you will be missed and never forgotten.

    I have fond memories of John from early childhood on. He has always seemed a part of my family even though I was not directly related to him. [a surprise to me when I found this out].                                    
    I will think of him and miss him at family gatherings.

I remember when the Callahan clan would converge upon our Grandmothers' home during the holidays.  In the evening after the festivities were over and we were ready to leave, John Callahan Sr. would put his food on my parents car talk away for another hour or two.  His foot effectively stopping us from leaving.  He did this even with the car running and my parents wanting to leave.  I affectionately call this the "Long Callahan Goodbye".  

John Callahan Jr. had this same gift of gab as his father.  In my phone conversations with John over the years, a 15min phone call became 2+ hours long!  One of my other fond memories is his gift of music.  John taught himself to play the guitar,  which I think he played beautifully!    

John, we will miss and your wife Jonine until we see you both again in the here-after!

I learned of the passing of John yesterday morning. Please take comfort in knowing that my thoughts and prayers are with All Of You at this sad time.
I know that John is Colleen’s brother through my brother Michael.
