On September 6, 2023, Harry Thomas, Jr.; beloved husband of 43 years of Doris Thomas (nee Franklin); dear brother of Judy Summers, Frances Baker (Dave), Carol Leonard (Dave). Pre-deceased by his parents Harry and Evelyn Thomas, Sr. and his brother Robert Thomas. Also survived by over 60 nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Harry was born and raised in Pennsylvania, in and around the town of Scottdale.
At a young age, he started his money-making journey working with his older brother delivering newspapers.
Just out of high school, he followed in his father's footsteps to work with the railroad. He started out as a draftsman and eventually worked his way up to Track Supervisor in Baltimore, MD. After working over 40 years for the railroad lines, he retired from Norfolk Southern in 2017.
He and Doris then spent many days traveling to their beach house in Selbyville, Delaware. He also loved visiting with family in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
He enjoyed gatherings with family, at home, the club, the cabin, with everybody, cooking up a feast and being the D.J. for each event. Seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter brightened his day. You might hear one of his jokes and stories more than once. He was the "Entertainer".
He was an amazing Master Wood Craftsman. His business was called "Storm Cloud". He was happy in his shop creating magical wood art such as jewelry boxes, plaques, wall hangings, kitchen gadgets and other "useful" gifts that he would even personalize for anyone who saw his talent. He also built many furniture pieces for his home and others.
His hobbies include playing the guitar, organ and piano along with golfing, fishing, and going to the cabin in Pennsylvania to hang with the guys. The Steelers were his football and everyone knew it!
Harry was proud life member of Baltimore County Game & Fish Protective Association, joining the club in 1983. During his 40 years with the club, he served in many positions to include being a member of the Board of Directors and most recently as 2nd. Vice President. He also was D.J. at many of the events there.
He lived a full life and will be missed by many. He will always be remembered for his personable ways, always wanting to help whenever, however, and whomever he could. And, if you are lucky to have one of his wood creations, then this is something to be cherished.
All hail the traveler. In God's Hands, until we meet again...with so much LOVE!!!
