On October 12, 2022, George Franklin Gardner; beloved husband for 67 years of Maria Gardner (nee Simpkins); devoted father of Joanna G. Moorman and husband Steve; Pauline Gardner-Miller and husband Tim; and Michelle Gardner-Outten and husband Jeff; loving grandfather of Patrick Miller, Lucas Miller, Elizabeth Moorman and Rachel Moorman.
George served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his military service, he entered the workforce as a pressman working for several local printing companies. He retired from Barton & Cotton, Inc. George also attended Johns Hopkins University in the evenings studying Engineering.
George was a devoted member of St. Isaac’s Jogues parish in Baltimore, MD. He served for many years as Lector, and Eucharistic Minister. George was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland until 2020. He also volunteered at Our Daily Bread in Baltimore, as well as serving in other roles at various local parishes.
Relatives and friends will gather at Schimunek Funeral Home, Inc., 9705 Belair Road, Nottingham, MD 21236 on Monday, October 17, 2022, 6:00-8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Isaac Jogues Church on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, 12 Noon. Entombment Highview Memorial Park, Route 152, Fallston, MD.
