On April 14, 2024 Edward Leo Kennedy passed away peacefully in his home. He was the beloved husband of his wife of 73 years, Victoria; devoted father of Christine Dankmeyer and Stephanie Youells, her husband Edward (Pat); loving grandfather of Ryan Dankmeyer, Karen Pings, her husband Jeremy, Anna Youells-Hwang, her husband Andrew and Patrick Youells. He also had three great grandchildren, Chloe and Evelyn Pings and Noah Hwang. He was the dear brother of the late Jane Comber and son of the late Edward and Marie Kennedy and uncle to four nieces and nephews.
Ed was born and raised in Baltimore, and graduated from the Polytechnic Institute and Loyola College. He enjoyed movies, baseball, football, history (especially British history), collecting prints, paintings and other memorabilia. He and his wife enjoyed several trips in the US and Canada as well as Europe. He served in the Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was stationed in India during WWII and then at Fort Meade during the Korean War.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Schimunek Funeral Home at 9705 Belair Rd, Nottingham, MD. 21236 on Friday 4/26 from 3-5 PM and 7-9 PM.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph Church, 8420 Belair Rd. Nottingham, MD 21236 at 10AM on Saturday, April 27, 2024 followed by burial at the St. Joseph Church, Fullerton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The American Lung Association, Gilchrist Hospice, or Hillarity for Charity which among other things provides grant money to à respite program for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer's and other dementias.
