Of Norwood, formerly of Jamaica Plain, died peacefully at home on July 28, 2011.
Born June 23, 1942 to the late Michael and Mary (n. Dunne) Nee. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grammar School, Don Bosco High School, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and Massachusetts Bay Community College. He was past president of the Norwood Jaycees and their 1976 Man of the Year and also a member of Knights of Columbus Boothbay Council #10356. He was involved with and dedicated to St. Timothy’s Parish in Norwood, served on parish council, taught religious education and was active with CYO.
He started his career as a union carpenter then joined the MBTA. Retiring after 25 years he then worked for the Boothbay Ambulance Services for 2 years before working on the Big Dig. Since retiring 4 years ago, he enjoyed puttering around the house and yard, fishing with grandchildren, cheering them on from the sidelines, Boothbay Harbor, cookouts and holiday meals with family, sharing stories and wisdom, and traveling with his wife.
He is lovingly remembered by: his wife of 47 years, Judith M (n. Donovan); his grandchildren: Jessica, Cameron, Rebecca, Margaret, Cassie, Bridget, Thomas F and Rachel; his children: Thomas Jr. and his wife Jenifer, Noreen and her husband Darren Valentine, Nancy, John Paul, Kathleen and Robert. Also survived by his siblings: John and his wife Jeanne, Robert, Michael and his wife Sheila, Martin and his wife Sheila and Judy and her husband Ronnie Bain; and in-laws: Alice Owen, John Donovan Jr, Rosemary and her husband Carroll Gagnon, Nancy and her husband Lawrence Elliott, Patricia Cadegan and Joyce and her husband John Choate; as well as many, many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 9:00am from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street, Norwood, at then at 10:00am in St. Timothy Church, 650 Nichols Street, Norwood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow the Mass in Mt. Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, August 1, 2011 from 2:00-4:00pm & 6:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
