Thomas J. Lyons Jr.

Of Norwood and Bass River, died from a stroke on Tuesday May 30, 2023 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital, surrounded by his family.

He was the loving son of Rita M. Lyons of Norwood and the late Thomas Lyons, Sr. He was the dear brother of Charles of Norwood and Michael and his wife Elizabeth of Duxbury. He was the uncle of Corey Lyons and her partner Alex Gillis of Duxbury and Christopher Lyons of Duxbury. His aunts are Marie Dempsey of Sudbury and the late Eleanor Levesque of Woburn and the late Margaret Gavin of Belmont. He also leaves behind his cousins, whom he thought of as extensions of his immediate family.

Tom was a 1970 graduate of Norwood High School. He received a BS in finance from Boston College, an MBA from Bentley and a Masters in Foreign Finance from Boston University.

While at BC he played lacrosse and hockey and managed the pool. He was an All American hockey player.

His real love was ocean racing, were he raced all over the Middle East, Europe, the British Isles, and the east coast of the United States.

Tom spent 35 years overseas in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Qatar, Kahlalampuri, Germany, Scotland and London. He was the Chief Financial Officer of many large construction projects in these areas.

Tom was quiet, unassuming and loyal to both friends and family. He was also a great dresser. Any endeavor the "Chief" took on he did to the best of his ability.

Funeral from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A), NORWOOD, on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 9:30 am. Funeral mass in St. Timothy Parish, 650 Nichols Street, Norwood, at 10:30 am. Interment at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hours in the Funeral Home on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 4-8 pm.
