HAWLEY, Thomas K. DMD age 65, of Norwood, Sunday Aug. 23. Son of the late Neil G. Hawley Jr. and Marguerite “Peggy” (LeBlanc); husband of Carol A. Boisen; devoted father of Bryan T. Hawley and his wife Kristen of Norwood, and Beth Marie Fratalia and her husband Michael of Foxborough; loving brother of Diane Pinette of Norwood, Linda Davenport and her husband Stephen of Norwood, David B. Hawley and his wife Leisa H. Weld of The Hague, Netherlands, Carol Scrima and her husband Scott of Hollis NH, June Steinweg and her husband Todd of Arnold MD, and Janet M. Michienzi and her husband Andrew of Needham. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Dr. Hawley was raised in Norwood, and attended Norwood Schools. He was a 1967 NHS graduate, went on to earn his undergraduate degree in 1971 from Boston University and then his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry from Tufts in 1975. Dr. Hawley owned and operated a private dental practice in Norwood. Since 1985 he was a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of General Dentistry at Boston University. Dr. Hawley was insatiably curious about and engaged in the world around him. His passions and interests included gardening, orchids, fly-fishing, hiking, camping, fine wine and food, cycling, running, sailing, aviation, astronomy, meteorology and reading. We’re not kidding. He shared his fascinations with family and friends and took many planned and unplanned expeditions, capturing images along the way with his keen photographic eye. Dr. Hawley also loved spending time in museums and bookstores. He was an active member of the Massachusetts Dental Society and the American Dental Association. Funeral Saturday, Aug. 29 at 10 am from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington St. Norwood at 11, visiting hours Friday 4 – 8.
