Shirley K. (Smith) Bandanza, of Norwood, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 26, 2015, after a courageous battle of Pancreatic Cancer at the age of 82. Shirley was married for over 50 years to the late Pasquale “Ben” Bandanza. She leaves her children, Joseph and Julie Lorusso of Duxbury, Sandra of Norwood, James and Suzanne (Lane) of Needham, Daniel and Deborah (DiPietro) of Mansfield, and Sharon of Norwood. She also leaves her most cherished grandchildren, Victoria, Lane Marie, Katherine, and Daniel. She leaves her loving sister Beverly along with her husband Sam Lynch of Norwood. She was raised in West Roxbury along with the late William, Irene Coates, Robert and Raymond. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews. She retired from the Norwood Hospital Emergency Room, where her compassion and warm smile brought comfort to all she met. She was also a hairdresser, and worked in the heating industry for many years, along the way at Pleasant Heating, Star Energy, Norwood Energy and Supreme. She was a loving friend and her sense of humor brought joy to all who knew her. Her family would like to thank all the nurses and aides of the Visiting Nurses Association along with their caregivers at the Stanley Tippett House in Needham for their compassion and care towards Shirley and her family. Shirley’s Remembrance Service will be held on Thursday, October 29, at the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD at 10 AM, followed by interment at Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visiting hours Wednesday, 4 – 8 PM, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to either the Crossroads School for Autism, 11 Huron Dr. Natick, MA 01760, or to the Stanley Tippett House, 920 South St., Needham, MA 02492.
