Raised in Cambridge and Arlington alongside three brothers, Sheila graduated from Arlington High School and went on to graduate from Sargent College of Boston University in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science for Physical Education. Sheila spent many years as a Physical Education teacher and would later go to earn her degree in Gerontology. Following this, she became a director of an adult care center specialized for Alzheimer’s patients and devoted her work to helping others. Sheila devoted her life to her family and spending time with them as her most proud accomplishment was being a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother. Sheila will be remembered as a women who was genuine, always welcoming, and willing to share a conversation for hours. Throughout her life, Sheila enjoyed traveling, often times visiting beloved family members, baking and cooking, often with her home grown fruits and vegetables from her garden.
Sheila is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years of marriage, George “Buzz” Mulvey; her loving children, Timothy Mulvey and his wife Robin of Elkton, SD, Kevin Mulvey and his wife Kelley of Phoenix, AZ, Kathryn Doyle and her husband James of West Roxbury, MA, and Patrick Mulvey of Millis, MA.She was the cherished grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17th from 4pm to 7pm at Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street, Norwood. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 18th at 10:30am at St. Timothy Church, Norwood. Interment will be held privately.
