Of Norwood, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2022, at the age of 85, surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 23, 1937 to Margaret (Colby) and Robert W. Williamson, Russ was proud to be a lifelong resident of Norwood. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Lee (Chamberlin), and his three sons. Mark and his wife Mary of Norfolk and their children Kevin, Sam and Paul; Scott of Newton; and Todd and his wife Liz of Westwood and their children Holden, Avery and Graham. He was predeceased by his sisters, Margie Kinnard and Molly Crawley. Russ is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Russ graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and The Wharton School of Business, class of 1960. After graduation, Russ returned to Norwood and joined his father in the family printing business, T.O. Metcalf of Boston. He spent his entire career in the printing industry and was beloved by co-workers, customers, and vendors alike. Russ also followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, serving on the Board of Directors at the Norwood Bank for 34 years. He proudly served his country in the Massachusetts Air National Guard. He was very involved in his community. He held a variety of roles at his church, the First Congregational of Norwood, where he made lifelong friends and enjoyed singing in the choir. He also sang in a barbershop chorus for many years, traveling to competitions around the country. Russ loved nothing more than spending time with his family, working in the yard, playing tennis, traveling, and sailing. Russ and Lee loved spending time at a family cottage on Lake Sunapee, NH, and in their later years, they enjoyed time at their vacation home in Mashpee.
Funeral Services will be private. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 100 Winter Street, Norwood on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
