Robert “Bob” Michael Hogan, 68, passed away at home surrounded by family, having succumbed to complications of Alzheimer’s on May 16th, 2021. Robert grew up in Roxbury, the youngest of 6 children, to the late Thomas and Winifred (Cutcliffe) Hogan. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School, class of 1970. In 1973, he married the love of his life and best friend, Mary Cormier. Their love and devotion continued throughout their 48 years married.
In 1974, Robert enlisted in the Air Force and achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant. After 13 addresses and nearly 10 years of service, Robert and Mary became residents of Norwood. Robert was a devout Catholic and active parishioner of St. Tim’s in Norwood. A gifted singer and music lover, he sang with the chorus at folk mass.
He received degrees in English and Art from Boston State College, and later in Computer Science from Boston University. For 26 years, Robert worked in the tech industry. His final position he described as his dream job, working for Oracle as “knowledge engineer”.
Despite all his professional accomplishments, “Bob” considered his greatest gift to be his family. He is remembered by his loved ones as being a gentle, loving person. His humor, positivity, and compassion for others will be greatly missed. Within the family he was known for his world famous crepes, a neverending supply of good/bad dad jokes, and being the biggest kid while playing with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded by his mother-in-law, Ruth Leahy Cormier and father-in-law, Floyd Joseph Cormier. Besides his lovely wife, Robert is survived by his siblings, Tom, David, Barbara, Jeanne, and Peter. He is also survived by his children, Paul Hogan and his wife Christine (of Norwood), Catherine Daily and her husband Jim (of Warwick, RI), and Colleen Ellse and her husband Jeffrey (of Sharon). His last legacy are his beloved 8 grandchildren: Jackson, Gavin, James, Emma, Ana, Lilia, Elora, and Caleb.
The family would like to extend its warmest thanks for the outstanding care to both the Ascend Hospice team, as well as Robert’s neurologist, Dr. Mark Eldaeif from Massachusetts General Hospital.
