Patricia J. Monahan passed away on June 6, 2024.
Trish was the daughter of the late Francis X. Monahan Sr. and Lucy (Breen) Monahan-Burton; the sister of Marie L. Hixson, Lucy E. Monahan, and the late Francis X. Monahan Jr; sister-in-law to Eddie and Dee. She had two nieces, a nephew and a grand nephew, all of whom she adored completely. She was the granddaughter of the late Henry F. Breen Jr. and Gertrude (Greer) Breen, and Edward A. and Margaret (McGowan) Monahan. She was the niece of the late Henry F. Breen III, Mary C. Breen, Joseph G. Breen, Nancy E. Andrews, John P. Breen, Janet B. Kane, Elinor Monahan, Phyllis Hollenbeck, Edward A. Monahan Jr., Clement J. Monahan, James Monahan, Rosemary Etzdorf, and Paul Monahan.
Trish was a graduate of Norwood High School class of 1979 and attended Massachusetts Bay Community College. A lifelong resident of Norwood, active Town Meeting Member and full-fledged townie, she retired from Verizon and was a proud member of IBEW 2222. In retirement she enjoyed pursuits such as storm chasing with a group of friends and visiting every state in the country with only Hawaii left unvisited. Recently she traveled to experience the totality of the eclipse.
She came out of retirement to commit herself to the welfare of Norwood citizens, volunteering at the Women’s Community Center (WCC) and initially working at the library before becoming an outreach coordinator at the Norwood Senior Center where she was an advocate, protector and confidante for Norwood seniors and was a Shine counselor. A true heroine during the pandemic she pursued her work fearlessly and unimpeded on behalf of anyone who needed her assistance.
The impact of her life was consequential and far-reaching and she will be missed by many.
At her request, there will be no calling hours and the funeral will be private.
