Martha R. Hamilton

Martha Rose Hamilton of Hingham, and formerly Vero Beach, FL, Pocasset, and Norwood, where she was a longtime resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 28, 2023 at age 94.

Beloved daughter of the late Elton E. and M. Christine (Geishecker) Hamilton. Sister of the late Christine Kelly of Norwood, MA and the late Mary Hamilton of Cape Cod. Survived by her sister Marjorie Yambrovich of Litchfield, OH and many loving nieces, nephews, and their families.

In her younger years, Martha enjoyed traveling, singing in the choir, and spending time with family and friends. Martha was an active member of the Catholic churches in the neighborhoods where she lived and was honored to serve as a past Prefect of Ladies Sodality at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. After a career in banking and auditing that spanned more than 45 years, Martha retired as an AVP of South Boston Savings Bank. In her retirement, Martha loved wintering in the warmer Florida weather and dedicated time as a volunteer for the Sheriff’s Office in Vero Beach. When in MA, she volunteered in the public libraries in both Bourne and Norwood. Later in life and since 2007, Martha resided in the senior community at Linden Ponds where she enjoyed playing bridge, engaging with friends, and participating in a variety of social activities.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Mass in St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 547 Washington St. NORWOOD on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 10 AM. Interment in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visiting Hours are omitted.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Martha's memory to a charity of one's choosing.
