Joe’s greatest passion in life was his family. His favorite moments were always spending time with his children and grandchildren whether attending their school functions, sporting events, vacationing at New Seabury in the summer or going on many memorable family trips to Disney World - family was the most important thing to him. He was a proud graduate of Boston College class of 1955 and received his Masters degree from his alma mater in 1965.
He worked for GTE Government Systems in Needham for 35 years as a Software Engineer. He loved playing basketball in his younger days and golf in his later years. He was a lector and eucharistic minister at St. Timothy’s Church in Norwood for many years. He was also a long- time member of the Norwood Knights of Columbus. Known to many as a soft spoken listener and friend to all, he will always be remembered for his calm and gentle demeanor.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 61 and a half years, Geraldine (Coghlan) Lynch; his loving children, Alicia Gibson and her husband Lee of Norfolk, Edward Lynch and his wife Allysen of Franklin, and Susan Ledwith and her husband Robert of Walpole; his adored 10 grandchildren and his cherished 4 great grandchildren. Joseph was predeceased by his son, Joseph Lynch Jr.
Also survived by a brother Thomas Lynch of Brooksville, FL, Sister Marie Lynch of Maryknoll Sisters in Ossining, NY and brother Edward and wife Sheila of West Dennis, MA. His sister Aileen McNulty predeceased him.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St Jude’s Church in Norfolk on Friday June 4, 2021 at 10:30am.
