Born and educated in Galway, Ireland, he was the son of the late Thomas and Bridget (McDonough) Colleran. He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Mary (Prew) Colleran; loving father of Maureen and Christopher Driscoll of Mansfield, Thomas Colleran of Norwood, Brian Colleran and Maura Aniello of Webster and Joyce and Scott Hancock of Holden; cherished grandfather of Conor, Ryan and Meghan Driscoll of Mansfield and Erin and Kate Hancock of Holden; devoted brother of Catherine and Paul Scriven of Venice, FL and Sean and Joan Colleran of Galway, Ireland and the late Bridgie and Gerry Riedy, Maura Joyce, Thomas Colleran, Martin Colleran and James Colleran; dear brother-in-law of Mickey Joyce of Galway, Ireland, Marjorie Prew of Winthrop, Rita Prew of Reading, Jerry and Patricia Prew of Carver. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he enjoyed reading, sports and was a history buff. He was a great story teller and conversationalist.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 9:00am from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte. 1A), Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Timothy’s Church, 650 Nichols Street, Norwood. Interment with military honors will follow the Mass in Highland Cemetery, Norwood. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
