NAUGHTON, John F. “Shawn“ 55 of Millis, formerly of Jamaica Plain, passed at his home Saturday, February 11, 2012. His passing was peaceful, while he was surrounded by his loved ones. Weaned on music, song, and dance in the Irish neighborhood of Jamaica Plain, Shawn was a lifelong musician and entertainer. An accomplished drummer, Shawn was a key member of Daybreak, The Marsels, Tradition, and The Infractions. Having been a competitive Irish step dancer as a youth, Shawn would occasionally throw on a kilt to do a few steps during a gig. He loved life, cherished his family and friends, and will be missed and fondly remembered by many. Shawn lived by his favorite saying "It's great to be alive!"
Shawn was the son of the late Jack Naughton, and Christine and James Knopp; beloved husband and best friend of Nancy (Greene) Naughton; devoted father of Kelley McLaughlin and her husband Stephen of Maynard, Kaitlyn Lightbody and her husband Matthew of Foxboro; Tara Naughton of Norwood and Casey Naughton of North Attleboro; Cherished grandfather of Clara, David, Katherine and Kaiden; loving brother of Kevin Naughton of Goffstown, NH, Cols. Daniel and Corrine Naughton of Melbourne, FL, Kris-Ann Sullivan of North Attleboro; Eric Knopp and his wife April Smith of Jamaica Plain, and Jodi Donovan and her husband Sean of Norwood; adored nephew of Jan and Horst Kleinbauer of Canton and Timothy Keohane of West Roxbury. He was also survived by many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 9:00am from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte. 1A), NORWOOD, and at 10:00am at St. Timothy Church, 650 Nichols Street, Norwood, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be private. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shawns memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St. , Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements under the direction of Gillooly Funeral Home, Norwood, MA.
