Cherished companion of Josephine M. Reynolds of Walpole. Loving father of Laurie DeFina and her fiancé Thomas Black of Foxborough, Kristine Vasil of Walpole and George DeFina and his wife Dinora of Walpole. Adored grandfather of Nicholas Natarelli, Amanda Vasil, Thomas Vasil and Davio DeFina. Beloved brother of Vera DeFina of Whitman and the late Mary Connors. Dear uncle of Janet Lawrence and her husband Edward of Whitman as well as William Connors of Yarmouth. George is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.
Born in Boston on August 31, 1947, George was the beloved son of the late Andrew and Eda (Blasi) DeFina. He was raised in Roxbury and was a graduate of Boston Trade High School. For over 3 decades, he was the proud owner of the landmark establishment DeNo’s Pizza and Subs located in the heart of West Roxbury. He will forever be remembered for his dedication, hard work, kind and generous spirit who loved giving back and supporting the community where he made his famous pizza and subs for many years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 26th at 9:00am from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte. 1A), Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am in St. Timothy Church, Norwood. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, April 25th from 4:00-8:00pm in the funeral home.
