Frances V. (Costello) Weir

WEIR, Frances Virginia (Costello) of Wrentham, MA died December 21, 2017. She was 92 years old and was a long time resident of Norwood and Westwood. She was born in Portland, ME on September 12, 1925 and spent her early years as a “Mainiac”. She moved to Norwood in her pre-teen years and graduated from Norwood High in 1942. Frances worked at Brenner’s Clothing Store in downtown Norwood during the 60’s and 70’s. She worked at Polaroid in Norwood during the 80’s and 90’s. Frances was an active member of St. Catherine’s Church in Norwood. She was a long-time member of the St. Catherine of Siena Ladies Sodality serving as its Prefect and served as President of the Norwood Catholic Women’s Club. Frances was the beloved wife of the late Donald G. Weir of Westwood. A proud mother of 8, she is survived by Dolores Weir of Framingham wife of the late Donald J. Weir her eldest son, her daughter Barbara A. Hasenfus and her husband Stephen Hasenfus of Norwood, her daughter Susan M. Patterson and her husband John Patterson of Walpole, her son Daniel M. Weir and his wife Shirley-Ann Weir of Norwood, her daughter Linda M. Meloni and her husband James Sgouros of Bedford, NH, her son Patrick R. Weir and his wife Susan Weir of Plainville, her daughter Nancy J. Scanlon and her late husband Michael Scanlon of Shrewsbury, and her son Timothy M. Weir and his wife Karen Weir of Thompson, CT. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Visiting hours will be from 4-8 PM on Tuesday, December 26 at Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte. 1A), Norwood, MA. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 27 at St. Catherine of Siena, 547 Washington St., Norwood, MA. Interment will be in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frances’ name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011.
