Born in Lowell, MA, Eileen was the second of eight children born to the late Margaret L. Gallagher (nee Dery) and Joseph A. Gallagher. She was educated at Notre Dame Academy in Tyngsboro, MA, following which Eileen earned her RN certification through Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in 1966.
A dedicated nurse and patient advocate, Mrs. Crowley held positions at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and later as Head Nurse of the surgical floor at Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA. She ultimately specialized in geriatric care, serving as the Director of Nursing at Park Marion in Brookline, MA, a private care facility, and later held executive positions, including Vice President of Quality, at Mariner Health Care and Landmark Health.
Eileen was the consummate professional, being known throughout the industry as a fierce advocate for patient care. She specialized in bringing nursing facilities to code.
The beloved wife of the late Robert T. Crowley of Norwood, MA, she is survived by her daughter, MaryAnne Miner, her son-in-law John Miner, and her two grandchildren, ShaeAnne and Gracie May Miner, all of Boulder, CO. She leaves three sisters: Patricia A. Sem of Hampstead, NH, Kathleen Roosa of York, ME, and Ruth Ann Murray of Bolton, MA; and four brothers: Robert J. Gallagher of Salisbury/Haverhill, MA, Joseph F. Gallagher of CA, Thomas F. Gallagher of NY, and Paul M. Gallagher, formerly of Dracut, MA.
This coming Saturday, June 18th, we invite people to gather at the Gillooly Funeral Home (126 Walpole St., Norwood, MA) from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Following, a funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church (547 Washington St., Norwood, MA) at 11:00 a.m.
