Devoted husband of Evelyn M. (Cooper); beloved father of Charles E. Kuphal and his partner Gloria Carey of Haverhill, Richard L. Kuphal and his husband James Cook of Magnolia, Cheryl A. MacIntire and her husband Bruce of Mashpee, David T. Kuphal and his wife Susan of Millis, Ronald P. Kuphal and his wife Denise of East Longmeadow, John F. Kuphal of Randolph, Kevin R. Kuphal and his wife Charlene of Millbury, Gary C. Kuphal and his wife Remi of Franklin; loving brother of Patricia Gioncardi and her husband Joseph of South Weymouth, Robert Kuphal and his wife Caron of South Yarmouth; proud grandfather of Allison, Sarah, Amy, Joshua, Stacy, Christine, Laura, Jackson, Nathan, Madison and Jason; great grandfather of Cameron and Kallie; two nieces and one nephew.
Charles was born on May 20, 1929 in Boston, a son of Julius and Margaret (Kutz) Kuphal. He was raised and educated in Boston, a graduate of Roslindale High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps for three years in Japan during World War II until his honorable discharge in 1949. He also worked as a technician for the former New England Tel & Tel for 38 years until his retirement. Charles loved conversation, swing dancing, big band music, history, movies, his dogs and most of all his family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 10:00am from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rte. 1A), Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood.
Interment with military honors will follow at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 3:00-8:00pm at the funeral home.
