Virginia Burlingame

Virginia M. (Ginny) Burlingame, 66, of Norwich, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. She was born in Norwich to the late George and Mary Ballard. She was also predeceased by her husband of 44 years, LeRoy Burlingame, II; as well as her in-laws, LeRoy, Sr. and Doris Burlingame. Survivors include her children, Brenda Hatch and Dale Smith; LeRoy Burlingame, III and Taylor Hartwell; and Travis Burlingame; 13 grandchildren; her siblings, Diane and Pat King; George Ballard, Jr.; Canday Norwood; Hope and Jamie Williams; and John Ballard, Sr.; many nieces and nephews including her special niece, Colada Williams.

Ginny attended Oxford School and went on to work at Howard Johnson in Norwich and then to Sun Printing for 17 years. She was a member of the Norwich Fire Department Auxiliary, she loved crocheting, dancing, listening to old country music, camping and playing scratch-off tickets. Everyone who had the privilege to meet Ginny saw a good person who loved her family very much.

A memorial service for Ginny will take place at 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 14, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 N. Broad St. Norwich with Rev. Dr. Jeremy B. Stopford officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 pm until the time of service.
