Susie “Sue” P. Monell Granger passed away on June 3, 2023 in the comfort of her home surrounded by those who love her, after a courageous battle with cancer. Sue was born on February 3rd 1957 in. Norwich N.Y. the daughter of the late Donald M. Monell and Cora H. Franklin Monell who survives. Sue was a lifelong resident of East Pharsalia, attending the Norwich City Schools from which she was a 1975 graduate.
On August 9th 1975 Sue married Kenneth L. Granger who survives. Together they had three children, Rebecca S. Granger-Wall of Pharsalia Hook, Heidi L. (Gerald) Norris of East Pharsalia, Kenneth N. (Danielle) Granger of East Pharsalia. Seven Grandchildren, Emily Wall, Dylan, Joseph, Alex, Gerald Norris, Kenneth, Koryne Granger, one great grandchild Gunner Cummings.
Besides her mother and her husband Sue is survived by her brother Dennis Symond of West Virginia, her sisters Peggy L. (Lenard) Monroe of Norwich N.Y., Linda Birmingham of Brewerton N.Y., several nephews and nieces.
Sue is a charter member of the Pharsalia Volunteer Fire Company Inc. joining at its inception in 1974 until present. Sue was a very active member holding several positions as Firefighter, EMT, and Rehab specialist. Sue was the company’s treasurer for 38 yrs, and was instrumental in securing the companies 501-C-3 rating as well as negotiating reams of paperwork to obtain funding to purchase fire apparatus. Her eye for detail and her perspective on spending money will be deeply missed.
In 1987 Sue entered the work-a-day world working at several locations. In 1996 Sue enrolled at Morrisville State College in the nutrition program, graduating in 1998 with honors after making the Dean’s list every semester and the Presidents list the last. Sue then went to work at Opportunities for Chenango for the WIC program where she worked for over 20 yrs. Sue was the Town Clerk for the town of Pharsalia from 1996 until illness forced her to give up the job she love. Sue would say she especially enjoyed meeting and talking to the people of Pharsalia.
Sue truly loved life spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends, her flower gardens and fishing, even though she never touched a single fish.
Friends may call at her home in East Pharsalia any time beginning at 10:00AM Sunday June 11th. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday June 12th at the Community Baptist Church East Pharsalia,
