Sandy was born May 16, 1942 in Plymouth the daughter of Sydney and Jerusha (Monroe) Rivenburgh. She grew up in Plymouth and attended both Plymouth and Norwich schools and was a 1962 graduate of the Norwich High School. Her working career spanned for many years. She began working for the law firm of Haynes and Downey as a legal secretary and eventually with the Haynes Law Firm for a period of 25 years. Sandy then went to work for Chenango County where she worked for County Attorney Rich Breslin where she remained until her retirement in 2003.
Sandy enjoyed helping and taking care of anyone. Over the years she and her husband Roy traveled many different places including Canada. She liked to fish, camp, work with her flowers and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds. One of her favorite things to do, especially in later years, was to go out to eat with her husband to many of the areas restaurants.
Sandy is survived by her husband Roy of Plymouth, daughter Melissa Donnelly and companion George Shipman of New Berlin, granddaughters Heather Marie West of Madison, Desiree (Christopher) Strain of Plymouth and great grandchildren Remington Strain and Phoenix Griffin. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Sandy was predeceased by parents, her siblings Donald Rivenburgh, Carol Youngs and Jean VanCamp.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Saturday, October 8, from 1-3 pm. A PRIVATE SERVICE for Sandy will be held at the convenience of the family.
Sandy’s family has asked that donations in her memory be made to the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford, CT 06108 or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 42040 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73123.
