Roberta M. Miles

Roberta May Miles passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Mary Imogene Bassett Memorial Hospital in Cooperstown surrounded by loved ones. She was born on September 14, 1936 in McDonough, NY to the late Ivan and Roselea Smith.

Roberta (Bert) worked for over 30 years at the Norwich Shoe Company, and then at Shop Vac in Norwich and went on to Electron Coil in Norwich until her retirement in 2007. She loved spending time with her family and feeding the birds with her little bird feeding buddy, her great-grandson Justin. Roberta also had a very special bond with her granddaughter, Tracy, who was there for her in so many ways, unconditionally and always.

Roberta is survived by her children, Edward Smith and Shirley Shepard, of Plymouth; Richard and Lesa Angle, of Plymouth; and Roxanne Stone, of Norwich; her grandchildren, Richard Angle, Jr., of New Berlin; Tracy Knapp, of New Berlin; Heather Straight, of Plymouth; Dustin Angle, of Norwich; Michael Miles, of Norwich; Shelby Stone, of Georgetown; Tonya Smith, of Utica; Trixie Smith, of Utica; and Candie Foster, of Utica her brothers, Ivan Smith, Jr., of Smithfield, PA; Larry and Donna Smith, of Guilford; Darrell (Dan) and Sandy Smith, of Earlville; Gerald and Linda Smith, of Plymouth; and Clyde and Dianne Smith, of Hudson, MA; her sisters, Verna Walker-Black, of Boynton Beach, FL; Grace Chamberlin, of Plymouth; Hazel Cummings, of Norwich; Glenda Whitehead, of Oxford; and Dorothy Perry, of Norwich;; as well as many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Roberta was predeceased by her husband, Frank Miles; her daughter, Susie; her brothers, Chester Smith, Lester Smith, Ronald Smith, Richard Smith, and Paul Smith; and her sister, Eleanor Perry.
