Patty, a lifelong resident of Norwich was born on August 9th to John and Marjorie (Ingraham) Welch. For 28 years, she was employed by the Norwich Pharmaceutical Company, then worked at Camp Pharsalia, Camp Georgetown, and Mohawk Valley Correctional Facility. She retired from Greater Binghamton Health Center and continued working as an in-home aide.
On April 27, 1974, Patty married her bowling league sweetheart and love of her life, Jim Woodard. They were married for 32 years and raised one son, James.
Patty had the gift of gab, conversing with anyone about everything. She had a passion for baking, cream cheese brownies and carrot cake among the favorites. Patty and her granddaughter, Jo, spent many days cooking, having “Minion dance parties” and exploring the creek behind her home. An avid reader, Patty spent time enjoying her latest library book on her deck accompanied by her two dogs, Bo and Oliver. Always thoughtful, she never missed commemorating an occasion with a card or note.
Patty is now reunited with her husband Jim, her parents, sister Barbra White, nephew Larry White, and brother William Welch. She is survived by her son Jimmy (Katelyn) and two precious grandchildren Josephine and Michael James. According to her granddaughter, Grandma Patty is “flying around heaven with pink and purple wings.”
Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, Norwich, on Monday, June 20, 2022 from noon until 2, followed by a graveside service at St. Paul’s Cemetery.
