Kathy was born in Oxford, NY in April of 1960 and was the daughter of Beatrice “Bea” (Brazee) and Barry Usher. She lived most of her life in the Norwich area. Over the years she had worked for BF Goodrich, Taylor’s Mini Mart, Electron Coil, Heritage Farms, Chenango County ARC and Springbrook. She spent most of her career as a Medicaid Service Coordinator for CWS where she helped set up the Medicaid Coordinator Program. She retired in 2015 so she could focus on her family especially her children and grandchildren. Kathy was very well respected and loved by all her co-workers and the individuals she served during her career.
At home, Kathy enjoyed gardening, being outdoors, cooking and baking with her grandchildren and going to flea markets and storage auctions with her husband Jack. Kathy and her husband loved going to see live music and went to several music venues over the years where she would dance her heart out. She also enjoyed vacationing with her family, collecting Beatles memorabilia and anything quirky that caught her eye at yard sales and thrift stores. Kathy was an amazing friend who was always willing to help those in need. Above all else, she especially loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and family.
On December 29, 1979 Kathy married the love of her life Jack Crawford and together they made their home on Steam Sawmill Hill Road in North Norwich.
Besides her loving husband of 41 years Jack, Kathy is survived by her children Sarah and Aaron Crawford of Norwich. Her grandchildren Artemis Peptis of Norwich, Zhoey Crawford, EmmaLee and Karter Mullenax of Madison. Also surviving are her father Barry Usher of Norwich, her brothers and their spouses Larry and Reatha Bishop of Oxford and Mike and Debby Bishop of Norwich. As well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends and co-workers. In addition, Kathy is survived by her wonderful friends Shelly LoGerfo and Jim and Chris Fowlston.
She was predeceased by her father Larry Bishop, her mother Beatrice Usher and her brothers James “Hank” Bishop and Dennis Bishop. She was also predeceased by her very best friends Tammy Periard, Sharon Mann, Shelley Wickham Jodi Albright and her cousin Connie Switzer.
There will be no funeral service, calling hours or interment per Kathy’s request. The family will hold a Celebration of life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Chenango County 33-39 Court Street Norwich, NY as they provided amazing care and concern for Kathy during her illness.
