Kathleen Lynne Horton Armitage, age 63, of Norwich, NY, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2019 at her home. She was born November 11, 1956 in Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Maryland to June (Whaley) and William Horton Sr.
She was a graduate of Sherburne-Earlville Central School. Her travels after school took her to Greenville, SC, Florence, SC, Mentor, OH, Ashland, KY and Blue Mounds, WI before returning to Norwich, NY to make her home.
Kathy was employed for 27 years at Golden Artist Colors in New Berlin, NY. The company became Kathy’s second family. She was a strong, hardworking, trustworthy, dependable employee, always going the extra mile for the company, the employees and customers alike.
Kathy was a devoted and loving mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, friend and most recently with much joy and love in her heart…she became a grandmother (Grandma Lovey) to Mileena Josephine Frias…a much anticipated role that would surely help heal her heart. Her gentle spirit and quirky sense of humor will be deeply missed. Kathy was fiercely independent with a beautiful, free spirit.
Kathy loved and cherished her daughters, each of her 5 siblings and her family with a full and grateful heart. Kathy is survived by her beloved daughter Michelle Armitage (A. Martin Frias), love of her life – granddaughter Mileena Frias, loving and devoted sister Kelley Horton (Brian Benn), adoring brothers Patrick (Becky) Horton, Daniel Horton (Jackie Brunschmid), sister Kimberlee Brown. Also survived by nieces and nephews Yuki Horton, Diane Horton, Thomas Horton, Lilie Horton, Erik Roberts, Sara(Travis) May, Kristyn (Greg) Crossway, Craig Roberts II, great-nephew Roy Crossway, Aunt and Uncle Richard and Janet Decker, Uncle Richard Whaley and numerous treasured cousins. Also survived by former husband Michael Armitage. She leaves behind her two favorite furry family members; Napa and Lacey.
Kathy was predeceased by her beautiful daughter Andrea Lynne Armitage, her parents June Tuttle and William Horton Sr., brother William Horton Jr., grandparents Kenneth and Mary Whaley and Paul and Grace Horton.
Kathy’s family would like to thank Kathy’s kind and loving neighbors; Wes and Kristen Mills and sons for their years of loving support, friendship and compassion, her Golden Artist family for the joy they brought to her life and the many devoted friends she had there, the Norwich Police Department and the Norwich Emergency Squad.
Please join us in celebrating Kathy’s life Monday, January 13th, 2020. Visitation will be held 1:00 – 3:00pm followed by a prayer service with Pastor Thanna Howell at Fahy’s Funeral Home,116 North Broad Street, Norwich, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her memory to the North Norwich United Methodist Church or the Chenango SPCA.
